First Flush System
The First Flush system takes the initial wash from the roof and dumps it into a tube. When this is full, a float cuts off the tube allowing the clean roof water to flow directly into the tank. No more smoke tainted water, leaves, or insects etc. and eliminates the need for a large and costly settling tank. A 90 millimetre diameter x 1500 millimetre first flush system will cover an area of 50 square metres of roof area. The roof and spouting should be cleaned prior to fitting the system and should be cleaned yearly thereafter. Prices vary from $135.00 for a small system to $850.00 for a very large system.
